Thank you all for your participation in halloween and buying the pink ribbons from us during the last two weeks. We hope that you all had a great time and enjoyed yourselves last Friday, at least we did. If you like this sort of events we can inform you that this is one of the smaller events that we spend the money from SECO on, and we also want to thank all of you for signing the forms. It will lead to more fun things (but also useful counterparts) in the future! For the ones that wasn’t there for the announciation of the costume winner last friday we can proudly present the winner: Rebecca Jederström. (Picture below) She put down a lot of effort in her make-up, creating a shockingly awesome look. Congratulations, you can pick up your prize from one of the IB2′s in the Core next monday! The Core wishes everyone a wonderful autumn break, have loads of fun and enjoy yourselves. See you when school starts again!

Vi i the Core vill tacka er för ert deltagande i Halloween i år och för att ni köpte rosa banden från oss. Vi hoppas att ni alla hade det bra i fredags och att ni uppskattade vad vi gjorde för er! Om ni gillar den här sortens events så kan vi säga att det här är en sådan sak som SECO-pengarna kommer gå till, och vi vill därför också tacka er för att ni skrivit på blanketterna. Pengarna kommer även att användas till roliga och mer allvarliga saker i framtiden! För er som inte var här för prisceremonin i fredags så kan vi med glädje presentera vinnaren av kostymtävlingen: Rebecca Jederström. Hello Everybody!

We at The Core think it is extremely important to bring awareness to causes that affect us and our way of living. This month Cancer Fonden’s is holding their annual Rosa Bandet campaign against breast cancer, a disease that affects one in every eight women in their lifetime. The aim of the campaign is to remind people of the implications of breast cancer and to support the ongoing research that is taking a small step everyday in the fight to increase the survival rate of people affected. You can help support this very important cause by buying a rosa band for 25kr and then wearing it to spread the word. We at the Core will be selling them in the school throughout the next few days, so that the next time you are on your way to buy a sandwich you can stop and think for a second what it would be like for you or someone around to you to get breast cancer. Remember every little helps!

Vi i the Core tycker att det är extremt viktigt att belysa problem och annat i vårt sammhälle som påverkar oss och sättet vi lever på. Den här månaden håller cancerfonden i sin årliga Rosa Bandet-kampanj mot bröstcancer, en sjukdom som påverkar var åttonde kvinna någongång under deras livstid. Målet med kampanjen är att påminna människor om vad bröstcancer är och hur det påverkar de drabbade men också att stödja framtida forskning inom området. Du kan assistera dem i detta genom att köpa ett rosa band för endast 25 kronor och sedan bära det för att sprida medvetenhet. Vi i The Core kommer att sälja dessa band i skolan de kommande dagarna, så nästa gång du går för att köpa en smörgås, stanna upp en stund och fundera över om det inte är värt att köpa ett band istället. Det skulle lika gärna vara dina vänner, din mamma, din mormor eller din syster som drabbats. Kom ihåg att många bäckar små blir till en stor å!

/The Core

The Core is proud to present it’s new service; SOS (study, organize, survive), which we hope will make your life as a student just that little bit easier. SOS will help connect students who need help with a subject to students who wants to help out of the goodness of their heart or to get CAS. We hope that this service will cut down on the work that one has to put in to find someone to teach them or to teach, and that IB students who are struggling to find a good CAS project can now rest easy with the knowledge that a simple and rewarding service is at hand.

It is quite simple. If you feel that you need to have some help, or you want to help, contact Abi Suso (abibatou.suso@ybc-nacka.se), or post on our facebook page (facebook.com/wearethecore) the following: Your name, your email adress, whether you want to help or need help and the subject(s) you need help with or want to help with. We will then either connect you to someone who is willing to help you/someone who needs help, or in case we can not find someone to connect you with, your name and email will be put up on our SOS page (wearethecore.com/sos) to let others see and decide to get help from you, or help you. If you do not want your name on the page tell us and we won’t.

A reminder to all year three’s that there will be mössprövning tomorrow on the 4th floor from 8:30 to 16:30. There will be people from the ABC gruppen (www.abcgruppen.se) who will guide you through the process of fitting and accessorising you’re possibly most awesome thing you’ll ever wear. We spoke to the principal about the problem many students have with the temperature in the school, and he has told us that he has contacted the landlord and notified them of the problem. Hopefully we will see a quick change in what can only be described as a modern ice age. Thank you for bringing this problem to our attention so we can help you make the school a better environment to study in.
